Tertia’s Home Tour of Namibia and South Africa

Tertia’s Home Tour of Namibia and South Africa

AUGUST 2026 (23 Days)

Southern Africa is bursting with an astonishing diversity of wildlife, stunning landscapes, unforgettable sunsets, and strong culture originating from ancient times. Sound familiar? You’ll find many parallels with Australia, but there is a rawness about Southern Africa that leads to experiences quite unique and exhilarating. What you will also find unique and exhilarating is our tour curators and leaders. Tertia and Ken Butcher are long time travellers to Southern Africa. Tertia is born and bred in Graaff-Reinet in the vast and beautiful East Karoo region of South Africa. Graaff-Reinet is referred to as the jewell of the Karoo and has a superb architectural heritage. This is a visit back to Tertia’s homeland and some of her favourite destinations including Tertia’s happy place, Kruger National Park.

As we travel along, we will be trying local dishes and cooking methods (perhaps not the Smiley it’s a whole sheep’s head). In Namibia expect some German influence in meals and always, always lots of meat. In South Africa, there is a mix of Dutch cooking (think cinnamon, dried fruit poached with your meat) and Indian flavours. At Kruger National Park you will be introduced to the customary BRAAI (wood-fired BBQ) where Ken will be your chef in the evening. Tertia’s wingman, Ken, is a fabulous potjie cook and a deep well of history knowledge.

Join us on this 3 week adventure with the people who know and live Southern Africa but have a reassuringly familiar down-to-earth Australian-ness about them.

We travel in tourist mini buses or 2 comfortable mini vans in small groups of like minded people, who enjoy food and wine, going places less travelled. We choose only very comfortable unique accommodation with a little bit of luxury thrown in.
